Cameron Hill, 7, dies after battling cancer; became best friends with Fair Grove firefighter

RIP Cameron Hill……

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A 7-year-old boy battling cancer who became best friends with a firefighter in Thomasville has died.

Cameron Hill died Saturday morning after battling an illness that could not be cured. When he was four years old, he was diagnosed with liver cancer.

Hill recently celebrated his seventh birthday and enjoyed spending time with his new best friend, Fair Grove Fire Department Lieutenant Jake Connor.

Connor and his fellow firefighters devoted much of their time to helping Cameron do everything on his bucket list.

They took Cameron to meet two of his favorite race car drivers, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Bobby Labonte.

Connor and the firefighters also arranged to have Cameron go on a plane ride, ride in a fire truck and spray the fire hose.

They emptied out their firemen’s fund to help with his medical bills and are hosting a bike ride to benefit him.
