Forsyth Co. schools to screen for Ebola; new students, employees to be asked about travel

Wow! So when is it considered too far? I mean I understand being scared but is it going to get to the point of checking and screening all students….. Are they going to start screening everyone? Think about it.. They on some networks tell you there is nothing to worry about…. Well if it is true why are we all freaking out…. What are state governments are feeling the need to start this…. What is really going on here?

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools system this week began asking new students and potential employees if they have traveled recently to countries in West Africa in response to the Ebola outbreak there, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

When enrolling new students, district officials will ask if they have traveled to the Ebola-stricken countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea in the last 21 days. The same question will be posed to any new employee, current employee or student who has been absent for extended periods of time.

Theo Helm, spokesperson for the school system, said Ebola has not been an issue, but the school system is being proactive and putting a plan in place to keep students and employees safe. The district has a handful of students from the region.
